Illinois’ corn/soybeans doing well

The Illinois wheat harvest, as of Sunday, reached 82 percent complete, a few points ahead of the average at this time.  Corn silking is slightly behind the average reaching 28%.  The condition of the state’s corn crop has held steady from last week with 80% in the good to excellent categories.

Soybean blooming is nearly 30 percent, well above the average. The state’s soybean crop condition remains at 75% good to excellent.

Heavy rains fell in much of northern Illinois last week while the southern half got less than average precipitation. Subsoil moisture has reached 87 percent adequate to surplus, on average, statewide.
