More Grow Wisconsin Dairy 30X20 Grants

Brancel WFTDWisconsin Ag Secretary Ben Brancel is traveling around the state this week issuing the latest round of Grow Wisconsin Dairy 30-by-20 Grants. When the program was first set up the grants were aimed at helping dairy producers increase profitability and help keep them in business. This round is to help processors meet new environment, food safety and world trade requirements.

The first grant announced on Tuesday goes to Taylor Cheese, a cut-and-wrap operation in Weyauwega seeking to meet new FDA protocols with employee training and product testing. They also plan to become a certified organic food processor.

Other grant announcements will be made on Thursday. Brancel says while the plants are using the grants for their specific purposes, the knowledge gained will be valuable to other processors around the state.

The goal of the Grow Wisconsin Dairy Grants are to have the state producing 30 billion pounds annually by the year 2020.
