Warmer weather returning the Midwest

Across the Corn Belt, a few isolated showers and thunderstorms dot the eastern half of the region. Elsewhere, sunny skies and increasingly warm conditions are accelerating final planting efforts and crop development.

On the Plains, mostly dry weather prevails across much of the region, promoting fieldwork and crop development. Long-term drought persists in key central and southern winter wheat areas, though recent rain has improved pastures and summer crop prospects. Showers are easing soil moisture shortages in Montana.

In the South, mostly dry weather is providing welcome relief from recent heavy downpours from eastern Texas into the Delta and Tennessee Valley. Seasonal showers have increased in Florida, easing dryness in southern portions of the state.

In the West, despite a few scattered showers, soil moisture remains limited for Northwestern winter wheat. Drought continues to affect pastures, crops, and water reserves from California into the Four Corners region.
