Illinois FFA Convention concludes with naming of officers, Stars

The Illinois State FFA Convention concluded in Springfield, Illinois Thursday with the installation of new state officers and the naming of FFA Stars in each of four separate categories.

The Officer Team was elected Thursday morning.

Delegates at the 86thState FFA Convention chose 18-year-old Cody Morris to be president.  Morris is from Coles County and a member of the Mattoon FFA Chapter.  Vice President is Tommy Justison.  The 17-year-old is from Montgomery County and a member of the Hillsboro FFA Chapter.

The new State FFA Reporter is Andrew Klein of Lee County and the Amboy FFA Chapter.  Renee Kinzinger, will serve as secretary.  Kinzinger is a member of the New Athens FFA Chapter in St. Clair County.  Treasurer is Willow Krumwiede from the Pittsfield FFA Chapter in Pike County.

The five officers, installed Thursday afternoon, will serve the Illinois FFA for the next 12 months.

The convention closed Thursday with the naming of the four Illinois FFA Stars.  The Illinois FFA Star Farmer is Layna Bond from the Galatia FFA Chapter.  The Star in Agribusiness is Cumberland FFA Chapter member Colin Cole.  The Illinois Star in Agricultural Placement is Andrew Livingston of the Taylorville FFA Chapter.  And the Star in Agriscience is Brandon Butcher, also of the Taylorville FFA Chapter.
