Brownfield’s spring series of Cab Conversations returns with host and Indiana Farm Director, Meghan Grebner, who is joined by Judi Graff of Middleton, Ill., Adam Casner of Carrollton, Mo., Zach Hunnicutt of Aurora Neb., Keith Alverson of Chester, S.D., David Lowe of Dunkirk, Ind., and Allen Ett of Ashville, Ohio, for the fifth segment of Get Growing.

During the show, guests gave a brief update about each of their operations and their planting statuses. Guests also discussed current problems each are facing during this spring planting season.

Weather and Planting Progress Questions

  • Allen Ett, what is your update from central Ohio?
  • Jumping over to Missouri in the western part of the state, tell us how things are looking in your area Adam.
  • Adam, is crusting still a problem for you this week?
  • Zach, last week you had just finished planting. How are things coming up in your area?
  • Keith, how are things for you in South Dakota?
  • Judi, how are things looking in Illinois and what are you scouting for in your area?
  • Are there any concerns about replanting? Adam, let’s start with you in Missouri.
  • Allen what about you in Ohio?
  • Zach, in your area is there a lot of replant?
  • What are some of the predictions you are hearing and reading about for summer weather and where did that leave you in your plan of attack? Keith let’s start with you.
  • Judi, what about you in Illinois?
  • Allen for you all in the eastern part of the corn belt, are you starting to scout for pests yet?
  • Dave reported to Meghan via text message that corn and beans are both being replanted in his part of Indiana.

Farmer-to-Farmer Questions

  • Allen asks Zach for an update on frost damage.
  • Meghan asks Keith how long his crop was underground before it came up.
  • Judi asks other guests if they were thinking about trading in and updating any of their equipment.
  • Meghan asks if anyone is faithful to one certain company or if they have equipment from multiple companies.
  • Meghan notes that precision ag companies are recruiting more computer science students to join the workforce.
  • Meghan asks if the guests have run into anyone who thinks they don’t relate to agriculture in any way.
