PEDv cases continue to rise

The number of cases of Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus continues to rise.  According to the latest data from the American Association of Swine Veterinarians, the number of confirmed cases is at 6,421 since it was first discovered in the United States last May.

The National Animal Health Laboratory Network reports there is at least one confirmed case of PEDv at 29, but the AASV notes cases have been diagnosed in Virginia, which would bring the actual number of states to 30.

Paragon Economics president Steve Meyer has estimated as many as 7 million pigs have died from PEDv.
