HSUS drops Colorado tail-docking initiative

The Humane Society of the United States says it is not going to pursue a ballot initiative this fall to prohibit tail docking of cattle in Colorado. HSUS Agriculture Council for Colorado member Mike Callicrate says The Colorado Legislative Council and Title Board changed the language on the proposal and HSUS not have time to refile the initiative for this election cycle.  Proposals are introduced by legislators then go to the Legislative Council and Title Board.

There are other initiatives in the works with regard to the handling and housing of livestock: none have qualified to be on the ballot as of yet, petitions are due August 4th.

HSUS is 501(c)(3) tax exempt charity and is not legally allowed to conduct more than a tiny amount of direct and grassroots lobbying. HSUS is legally required to provide charitable services, not crafting and pushing laws all over the country. HSUS could and should lose it’s tax exempt status and pay millions of dollars in fines. If Wayne Pacelle wants to be a politician, he should quit running a fake humane society and run for office. He’s enough of a liar to do well in that field.
