Corn and rice planting make some progress
Nine-percent of Missouri’s corn crop has been planted – as of Sunday. That’s slightly ahead of last year at this time but below the five-year average of 16 percent. Four-percent of rice is planted, behind last year and the average of 22-percent by this time.
Temperatures warmed up last week and some rain on Sunday improved some soil moisture. One-fourth of the state’s soil moisture is short and very short.
Missouri’s winter wheat crop is in mostly fair to good condition.
