4-H Day at the Wisconsin State Capitol

850 4-H members and adults from all-across Wisconsin descended upon Madison on Wednesday for 4-H Day at the State Capitol. Chris Viau is 4-H Youth Development Educator in Wood County, he says the day was the kick-off to a celebration of 100 years of 4-H in Wisconsin.

“One of the cool things is that there are a number of legislators who are 4-H alumni,” he specifically mentioned Representative Amy Sue Vruwink, a Wood County 4-H alum who really fired the kids up.  After an orientation session, members spent time visiting with legislators to tell them more about 4-H and to thank them for their continued support of the program and U.W. Extension.

Viau says it was a day of wide-eyes and enthusiasm, the kind of day that reminds him why he does what he does.
