First ‘State of Missouri Agriculture’ held
The first State of Missouri Agriculture was held in the capital city on Wednesday, led by Senate Ag Committee Chairman Brian Munzlinger, “A few short weeks ago, I attended the Governor’s Conference on Agriculture out of Kansas City. There was a great amount of information shared. Our hopes are not only to extend that information but to further provide knowledge from some of Missouri’s agriculture industries. I truly believe that if Missouri was serious about economic development we would be looking MORE to our agricultural sector,” said Munzlinger who is also a farmer.
The consensus at the event is that the state of Missouri agriculture is good but not without challenges now and into the future. A Right to Farm state constitutional amendment comes before Missouri voters this year.
Speakers at the event included the leaders of the St. Louis AgriBusiness Council and the Agribusiness Council of Kansas City, the director of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the director of the Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority.
