Senator suspects price-fixing of propane

A Missouri state senator is urging the state Attorney General to investigate price fixing of Propane. Senator Mike Parson (of Bolivar, Missouri) says he will introduce a resolution in the Missouri Senate on Monday.  He believes the propane “shortage” is “a corporate level fleecing of a lot of Missouri citizens,” adding, “I don’t believe there’s a shortage of propane whatsoever. I think this has been self-inflicted by them and I think for us to sit around and not do nothing is just a wrong answer.”

Parson, who used to work in the gas and oil industry, says people will run out of propane today, tonight and over the weekend and he wants an investigation right away. The high price spikes in propane and a purported shortage are occurring across the Midwest negatively affecting rural residents and ag producers, especially poultry producers.

A statement from Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster’s office says they are investigating about 25 complaints about the increased price of propane gas – seeking information from other agencies and propane gas associations in nine states to determine the cause of the price spike.

  • How could there be a shortage of propane when we have alot of natural gas.Propane has spiked up from 1/23/14 to 1/24/14 over $1.20 cents. why do we let these people steal? I see it no different than 911 tactics of price fixing.I was only allowed to buy 100 gallons at a time. I was assured the reason being that they had to be cautious so they wouldn’t run out.B.S. all i see is greed .

  • This is price fixing. This is a class action law suit of biblical proportions. The people doing this are heartless thieves without a shred of any moral compass what-so-ever.
