Tyson Foods is recalling some of its mechanically-separated chicken products because they may be contaminated with the Salmonella “Heidelberg” strain. The products were shipped for institutional use.
The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) says the chicken was produced at a Tyson plant in Sedalia, Missouri and linked to illnesses at a Tennessee correctional facility. Seven cases of the illness were reported at the prison and two of those people were hospitalized.
The FSIS is working with the Tennessee Department of Health in the ongoing investigation.© Copyright 2014 Brownfield, All rights Reserved. Written For: Brownfield
