Tractor sales decline in October

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers reports tractor sales for the month totaled 19,599 down 3.4 percent compared to October of 2012. Two-wheel-drive tractor sales were 2.2 percent lower than a year ago with 18, 680 units sold. Under 40-horsepower sales were 5.3 percent lower, 40-to-99 horsepower sales were 2.4 percent lower while 100-horsepower-and-above unit sales were up 3.5 percent from a year ago.

4-wheel-drive sales totaled 919 in October down 22.3 percent from last October.

Year-to-date total tractor sales are running 10.1 percent ahead of the first ten months of 2012 at 172,898 units. Two-wheel-drive sales are 10.5 percent higher while 4-wheel-drive sales are 2.2 percent lower than the same period a year ago.

Self-propelled combine sales in October totaled 1,153 down 34.6 percent from October of 2012. Year-to-date self-propelled combine sales are up 5.6 percent with 8,847 units sold.
