The National Biodiesel Board’s prediction that biodiesel production would exceed the 1-Billion gallon mark again this year has been realized. The EPA released numbers today showing production in September was 140 million gallons pushing the year-to-date biodiesel total to nearly 1-point-1 Billion gallons. It’s the third year in a row for biodiesel to exceed a billion gallons.
The NBB’s vice president of federal affairs, Anne Steckel, says the achievement “is a testament to the hard work of the biodiesel industry and the success of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) as an effective policy for diversifying (U.S.) fuel supplies.” Biodiesel is designated as an Advanced Biofuel by the EPA.
