Nutrition bill vote scheduled this week

The U.S. House is scheduled to vote on a nutrition bill this week. The bill, which would cut food stamp costs by 40-billion dollars over ten years, is expected to come up for consideration later in the week.

It is also expected that House leaders this week will name members to the House-Senate farm bill conference committee.

In another development, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor says he may cancel the recess that had been planned for the week of September 23rd and keep members at work.  Cantor says that, pending ongoing discussions on a continuing resolution on government funding, the House may need to be in session during the week of September 23rd and possibly into the weekend.

The Senate is already scheduled to be in session the final week of September.
