The populations of wild horses and burros in the western United States are at unsustainable levels. The rangeland just cannot feed that many animals and the federal government is spending a lot of money on them. Many say the Bureau of Land Management’s horse program needs a major overhaul. Doug Busselman is executive director of the Nevada Farm Bureau; he says he has seen a lot of the damage first-hand because around half of the wild horses are in his state.
