Missouri crops mostly fair to good

Crop development remains behind in Missouri amid unseasonably cool temperatures for the fourth week in a row.

The state ag statistics office says 75 percent of the corn crop was in the dough stage as of Sunday… 34 percent had dented completely. Both are four to nine days behind normal. The condition of corn falls mostly in the fair to good category at 72 percent.

Eighty-two percent of Missouri soybeans have bloomed and nearly half the crop is setting pods, both five days behind normal development at this time. Soybean conditions are mostly fair to good – at 77 percent.

Cotton setting bolls is 87 percent complete, 11 days behind normal. Rice and sorghum heading are a big behind average. All three crops are in mostly fair to good condition.
