OCM meeting to focus on COOL and NCBA’s involvement

Maintaining a strong defense of Country-of-Origin-Labeling (COOL) will be the main focus of the Organization for Competitive Markets’ (OCM) annual conference next week (August 9-10) in Kansas City.

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) and several other groups have asked a U.S. District Court to block implementation of COOL.  OCM favors COOL, and in this interview with Brownfield, OCM spokesman Fred Stokes is highly critical of NCBA for trying to stop it.

Stokes also discusses OCM’s decision to partner with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) in their legal battles involving NCBA and the beef checkoff.  HSUS CEO Wayne Pacelle will play a prominent role in next week’s OCM conference.
