Crop conditions in Missouri remained the same this past week during cooler temperatures and statewide rainfall.

As of Sunday, 79 percent of corn was silked and five percent was dented…both behind last year and the five year average.  A third of the corn crop is in fair shape, while nearly half of the crop is in good condition.  Thirty-eight percent of soybeans were blooming and five percent had set pods. Thirty-five percent of the crop is in fair shape while nearly half the crop is in good to excellent shape.

The second cutting of alfalfa hay is eight days ahead of normal at 93 percent complete. The third cutting is more than three weeks behind last year and six days behind normal. Other hay cutting is six days ahead of normal.

Cotton, rice and sorghum crop development are mostly behind last year and the five-year average.
