Missouri crops decline except cotton

A third of the corn crop is in fair shape, and 46 percent is good to excellent. Corn silked grew quite a bit to 59 percent complete. That’s still behind the average.

Twenty-three percent of soybeans had completed blooming and two percent were setting pods, both behind the average and last year. Conditions for soybeans were 46 percent good to excellent, 38 percent fair, 16 percent poor.

Sixty percent of the state’s cotton crop is in good condition, four percent is excellent.

The second cutting go alfalfa is 84 percent finished, slightly ahead of normal. The third cutting is 5 percent complete, 11 days behind the average.

Most of the northern half of the state remained dry last week but there was some much needed rainfall elsewhere.
