The return of ‘THE BEEF STATE’ license plate in Nebraska
The Nebraska Cattlemen’s organization wants to bring back “THE BEEF STATE” license plate for Nebraska residents.
From 1956 through 1965, Nebraska license plates bore the phrase “THE BEEF STATE”. The Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles now has a program that allows non-profit groups to create their own state-issued license plate. The board of directors of both the Nebraska Cattlemen Foundation and the Nebraska Cattlemen have collaborated to develop a license plate with the phrase “THE BEEF STATE” and are encouraging interested individuals to go online and vote for their favorite design. Online voting will conclude on June 28th.

I think these license plates would show our beef growers the appreciation they deserve!!! I vote YES on these plates!!!!
I like option 1 for Truck plates and Option 3 for car plates. I would love to put one on my great grandpa’s 1951 f3 with the original cattle racks from when he raised registered herefords.
I LOVE the last one for Personal Auto plates! Just perfect for our state
I vote YES bring back the Beef Plates!!!!!
I vote yes! Bring them back!
Beef has always been a source of pride. I would like to see the license plates promote The Beef State, even if it is just in honor of the Cattlemen’s 125th Anniversary. After that, it should be a personalized plate choice.
Are these plates going to be required for everyone or are they special plates? I am vegan and this is not something I want displayed on my car. I for one would be scribbling out that statement on mine.
I love the idea and I like the third one the best.
I like the first one!
Please bring back this plate!!!!
