Missouri crop report

Dry weather this past week gave Missouri farmers the opportunity to work in fields and increase planting and harvesting numbers. 

Corn emergence is now 97 percent complete, one day ahead of normal.  Fifty-four percent of the crop is in good or excellent condition.

Soybean planting is even with the average with 84 percent complete.  Sixty-seven percent has emerged, which is 20 days behind last year, but only 5 days from the normal.

Winter wheat turning color is 96 percent complete, only three days behind the average.  Winter wheat harvesting increased this week by 17 percent to 23 percent complete, about a week behind normal.

Cotton squaring is 7 percent complete, two weeks behind normal.  The majority of the rice crop remains in either good or excellent condition.  Sorghum planting is 92 percent complete, 5 days ahead of normal. 

Seventy-four percent of Missouri pastures are in good to excellent condition.
