Deputy Secretary Merrigan leaving USDA

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack released a statement on Thursday announcing that Deputy Secretary Kathleen Merrigan was leaving her post at USDA.

In the statement the Secretary talked about Merrigan’s role in the USDA’s Know Your Farm, Know Your Food initiative, as well as leading USDA’s efforts to implement important regulations.

In her statement, Agriculture Deputy Secretary Merrigan thanked the President for the opportunity and she thanked the U.S. Senate and Congress for their support of USDA programs.

“With Secretary Vilsack at the helm, aided by very talented and dedicated USDA employees, I am able to leave fully confident that, USDA will thrive and continue to improve its service to the American people,” Merrigan said.
