The national Outstanding Young Farmers awards were presented in Albuquerque, New Mexico this past weekend. The four national winners are:
- Brian and Stephanie Perkins of Richland Center, Wisconsin, they run a 3,000 acre conventional and organic grain operation.
- Nick and Tara Meyer who operate a 200-cow dairy farm at Sauk Center, Minnesota
- Greg and Gina Wegis who have a 17,600 acre vegetable and nut operation at Bakersfield, California.
- Erik and Heather Tietig who have the largest tropical fruit growing operation in the world near Miami, Florida.
Formerly the Jaycees Outstanding Young Farmer, the national OYF is administerd by the U.S. Jaycees with support from the Outstanding Farmers of America Fraternity and sponsored by the National Association of County Agricultural Agents and John Deere.
