Iowa farmer sticking with continuous corn

One of speakers at the recent Ag Connect Expo in Kansas City was Bill Horan, who farms in partnership with his brother near Rockwell City in northwest Iowa. 

Traditionally, Horan says, they used a corn-soybean rotation on their farm.  But the past two years they’ve been continuous corn, and they plan to do it again in 2013. 

We visited with Horan about that decision, challenges he expects to face this year, and his belief that farmers need to start building their own “safety net”.
