Former Senate Agriculture Committee chair to retire

The former Chairman of the Senate Ag Committee won’t run for reelection.  According to TheHill.com Georgia Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss told his staff this morning he would retire at the end of his current term.

Chambliss has been a member of the Senate Ag Committee since he was first elected and chaired the committee from 2005-2007.

He was also part of the “Gang of Six” that attempted to craft a bipartisan deficit reduction package in 2011.
