Illinois farmer a “face” of farming

Illinois farmer Katie Pratt has been named one of four “Faces of Farming & Ranching” by the U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance.

Pratt and her husband Andy are seventh generation farmers in Dixon, Illinois where they raise corn, soybeans and seed corn at their operation, Grand Prairie Farms.

The USFRA says Pratt will be a national spokesperson for production agriculture, working this next year on “answering consumers’ questions about how food is grown and raised.”

Pratt told reporters following the announcement, said it’s a way to connect with consumers and learn what they want from their food producers but also, “It gives us an opportunity to look at our farms and discovering that what we ARE doing IS good and knowing that we can improve on that in the future.” She adds, “I look at it as serving as a face of family farm, representing the family farms of the United States.”
