Sheets new Director of ISDA

Govenor Mike Pence and Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann introduce the new Director of ISDA Gina Sheets.

Governor Mike Pence and Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann announced their new Director of the Indiana State Department of Agriculture on Thursday.  Governor Pence says the agriculture industry will continue to build on the momentum of the previous administration and Gina Sheets, former director of economic development with the Indiana State Department of Agriculture is the person to do just that.  “We need to not only acknowledge agriculture – but to embrace it and to celebrate it,” he says.  “And look for ways to diversify our agricultural economy in this state.”

Lt. Governor Ellspermann says Sheets possesses the qualities the administration is looking for.  “Through transition I had the opportunity to begin to see her quality of work and to see how she operated within the agriculture community and the economic development efforts she was a part of,” she says.  “She is, head-over-heels, a great pick for Director of ISDA.”

Sheets tells Brownfield her goal is to continue to elevate the agriculture industry in Indiana.  “Agriculture cross-walks into the manufacturing, into research and technology, and crosses over into logistics,” she says.  “With all of that coming out of the Governor’s plan, agriculture will have a part of helping to grow Indiana’s economy.”
