The bi-weekly Global Diary Trade auction at Fonterra on Wednesday saw an overall 1.1 percent increase in prices from the previous sale. Buttermilk powder was down 6.5 percent, milk protein concentrate was 2 percent lower and the skim milk powder price was 0.3 percent lower than the last sale. On the plus-side, rennet casein was up 0.8 percent, cheddar cheese was up 0.9 percent, anhydrous milkfat was 2.4 percent higher and whole milk powder was up 2.8 percent. No lactose sold.
This is the third sale in a row where prices have gone up and the highest whole milk powder price since November 20th.
