Western Farm Show touts families, agriculture

The Western Farm Show is at the Kansas City American Royal Complex February 22nd through the 24th.

“The centerpiece is that we’re all about the local communities, rural communities, family farms,” said Jeff Flora, CEO of the Southwestern Association, which puts on the Western Farm Show.

“The show allows us the opportunity to become engaged more with agriculture in general,” Flora told Brownfield Ag News. “We’re really taking an approach over the last few years to be more advocates; to talk about what’s going on good in agriculture.”

Through exhibits, demonstrations and evening tractor pulls, Flora says the Western Farm Show brings to Kansas City a little of what family agriculture is.

“I think we’ve done a lousy job over the years, in our industry anyway, in telling the story about agriculture,” said Flora, “and not very many people understand the opportunities and the technology that’s taking place, and what’s going in agriculture and what a great industry it really is.”

The Western Farm Show features tractor and truck pulls daily through Saturday, beginning Thursday evening, February 21st. Western Farm Show exhibits are open through Sunday, February 24th.
