Don’t call FSA just yet

The fiscal cliff package passed by Congress on New Year’s Day extended some provisions of the 2008 farm bill until September 30, 2013. Sue Hunter with the Farm Service Agency in Wisconsin says, “The local FSA offices have not received any official notification of what programs have been extended or when any sign-up activity will take place.” As a result, they will not be setting up any appointments until they get the official details. She does suggest you make sure your FSA office has your current email address and make sure they have the latest, up-to-date information about your operation.
