Ready to recharge with “Red Whey”?

Move-over Gatorade, the University of Wisconsin has developed its own sports drink…make way for “Red Whey”. Developed by the U.W. Madison Athletic Department, the Center for Dairy Research, a Wisconsin whey processor and Country Ovens, the drink combines cherry juice and whey protein providing natural recovery drink for athletes. The drink provides essential amino acids, carbohydrates, electrolytes and nutrients plus cherry juice is filled with anti-oxidants.

John Dettmann, Director of Strength and Conditioning for the Badgers and one of the masterminds behind Red Whey says in the end: “The product is outstanding and it passes the ultimate test, the student-athletes love it”

Red Whey is distributed to the U.W. Athletic Department and is available through Country Ovens Ltd.

Gatorade was developed by University of Florida researchers in 1965 as a recovery drink for student athletes. It is now owned by PepsiCo.
