$13 million in EQIP funding available

To help Ohio farmers implement conservation practices, such as nutrient management, reduced tillage, field buffers, rotational grazing systems and others, the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has announced over $13 million is available through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP).

“The Environmental Quality Incentives Program offers farmers and forestland managers a variety of options to conserve natural resources while boosting production on their lands,” State Conservationist Terry Cosby said. “This $13 million conservation investment helps improve environmental health and the economy of Ohio’s rural communities.”

The deadline for the signup period in Ohio is January 18 at local NRCS offices. If funding is available, a second sign-up deadline will be February 15, 2013.
