Symposium focuses on succession of farm ownership

A symposium for beginning farmers and ranchers is Tuesday, November 27, at South Dakota State University. The half-day program features University of Nebraska Agribusiness Professor Ron Hanson, who specializes in farm ownership succession and management transfer between generations.

A description of the sessions explains that there are many issues that families must work through during the process of transferring ownership and management of a farm from one generation to another. These are often the sensitive issues that most farm families avoid discussing and/or just pretend will never happen to them, according to the session description.

The program starts at noon on the 27th in the Student Union Volstorff Ballroom. It’s free and pre-registration isn’t necessary.
