Illinois corn and soybean harvest virtually done

Virtually all corn and soybean crops have been harvested in Illinois with only a few stands left to be brought in. The most noticeable comparison is corn harvest is 16 points ahead of the five year average.

Eight-one percent of the winter wheat has emerged, close to last year and the average.  Most of the crop is in good condition.

The ag department says topsoil moisture in Illinois has “largely recovered from the effects of the drought.” Only 18 percent is short or very short of moisture.
