USDA reports this year’s U.S. corn and soybean harvests continue to coast to a finish.
As of Sunday, 91% of the corn crop is harvested, compared to 74% a year ago and the five year average of 60%, while 87% of soybeans are harvested, compared to 85% last year and 78% on average.
For winter wheat, 88% of the crop is planted, compared to 86% this time last year and 85% on average, with 63% emerged, compared to 64% a year ago and 67% on average. In the first condition rating of the growing season, 40% of winter wheat is in good to excellent shape, compared to 46% last year.
21% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are rated good to excellent, unchanged on the week and down 10% on the year.
The numbers were delayed two days by Hurricane Sandy.
