National FFA elects 2012-2013 officer team

FFA members work for years to prepare themselves for an opportunity to run for a National FFA Office.  As the 85th National FFA Convention and Expo came to a close on Saturday – for six students from across the US that dream became a reality. 

 University of Florida student Clay Sapp was elected to serve as the 2012-2013 National FFA President.  Sapp says over the next year one of his personal goals is to facilitate leadership and growth among his team and FFA members across the nation.

Kalie Hall of Georgia will serve as the National Secretary.  Kalie is currently a junior at the University of Georgia majoring in Agriculture Education.  She tells Brownfield she hopes to one day teach middle school agriculture and also work as an advisor.

Joenelle Futrell of Kentucky was elected as the East Region Vice President.  Joenelle is a Junior at the University of Kentucky studying Political Science and Agriculture Education.  She tells Brownfield she aspires serve the agriculture education field in some fashion.

Wiley Bailey of Alabama is looking forward to serving the National FFA Organization over the next year as the South Region Vice President.  Wiley is a junior at Auburn University.  In addition to his studies he also plays the banjo in his family’s gospel blue grass band.  He says he met his first National FFA Officer in sixth grade and has had aspirations of serving the organization ever since.

Brennan Costello of Nebraska will serve the next year as the Central Region Vice President.  Brennan is a sophomore at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, majoring in Agribusiness.  He says he is looking forward to his upcoming year of service – as it challenge him – and help him develop both personally and professionally.

Lindsay Anderson of California was elected the West Region Vice President.  She says her older sister was her inspiration for joining FFA.  After trying to follow in her big sister’s footsteps she realized they didn’t share all of the same interest.  Anderson felt it was time then to make her own path.  She says she’s looking forward to the next year and helping other FFA members get excited about the organization.  Anderson is currently a sophomore at Modesto Junior College and will complete her Associates in Animal Science and Ag Sales with plans of attending a four-year college at an undetermined location to finish her studies.
