First FFA Convention experience inspires young member

This is Caitlyn Mahoney’s first National FFA Convention. The sophomore at Jefferson City’s Nichols Career Center says she’s inspired by the people who surround her at the convention.

“All the people that I see here with all their awards on their jackets; it’s something to admire and I want to earn awards just like most of the people here at this convention,” said Caitlyn, over the noise of the convention, during an interview with Brownfield Ag News Thursday.

In addition to trying to win awards, Caitlyn has set goals for what she’d like to get from FFA.

“My goals in the FFA are just to get some more basic knowledge about agriculture,” said Caitlyn, “and work to strive for my dream job, which would be working with a Kentucky Derby race team as a veterinarian.”

Attending the convention has convinced Caitlyn that young people should learn more about what FFA has to offer. The convention continues through Saturday in Indianapolis.
