The recall of beef from that XL Foods plant in Alberta, Canada keeps getting bigger. The latest numbers have at least ten people becoming ill from meat processed at the plant and others are being investigated. The recall has been expanded in the United States and now extended to Hong Kong. Some 1,700 products are now on the list in what has become the largest Canadian food recall in history.
The U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service estimates that 1.4 million pounds of primal and sub-primal cuts and 1.1 million pounds of beef trim from the XL plant were received by U.S. companies. FSIS has issued a recall of all beef and beef products produced at the XL Foods plant produced on August 24, 27, 28, 29 and September 5th.
