House cancels October schedule

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor has announced the House will not hold scheduled votes the week of October 1st. That means the House members will return to Washington next Wednesday and go home on Friday. The next session is scheduled for November 13th after the election.

The Senate is expected to pass the Continuing Resolution to keep the government running through next March and then cancel its October schedule as well.

That means no action on the farm bill and puts a lot of pressure on those trying to get signatures on that discharge petition. 39 House members had signed the petition as of Friday morning but that is far short of the 218 needed to force a floor vote on the bill.
