NPPC Fall Legislative Conference

Pork producers from across the country, including a delegation of 16 producers from Ohio are in Washington, D.C. for the annual National Pork Producer Council’s Fall Legislative Conference.

Todd Stickley, President of the Ohio Pork Producers Council says it’s an opportunity for producers to talk about issues important to the pork industry.

“First and foremost feed availability is probably front and center of most producers minds,” said Stickley. “We’re coming into harvest and unfortunately this has been a really tough year, so even though there are a lot of unknowns about how the crop will be as far as quantity and quality, we know we are at record high prices right now and that will certainly weigh in on the profitability of the pork industry.”

Ethanol, the egg bill and antibiotics are also topics pork producers are discussing with legislators.
