AgReliant to construct new seed plant in Iowa

AgReliant Geneticsis expanding its production capacity by adding a complete seed corn production facility in central Iowa.

The company recently held a groundbreaking ceremony at the location near Ogden.

AgReliant president and CEO Craig Newman says it will be AgReliant’s first production location in the state.

“We’re pretty excited about making this kind of large investment in the number one corn producing state in the country,” Newman says. “We’ve got good (production) sites and big sites all around Iowa, but we had not actually had a production site of our own in Iowa.

“It’s very centrally located—good ground—we’re excited to be here.”

AgReliant’s vice president of sales & marketing Craig Anderson says the Ogden plant will be a state-of-the-art, fully integrated seed facility.

“It’s our goal to make sure that all the way from cleaning equipment to the new generation of color sorters, the sizing equipment—as well as packaging, which includes refuge-in-the-bag technology—that all of that is state-of-the-art and the latest innovation,” says Anderson.

“All of this results in the best seed quality—and the most effective and efficient operating situation for us.”
