With early weaning of calves, BRD could be an issue

As the drought continues, many cattlemen are considering early weaning of calves.  According to Merial field veterinary services director Dr. Joe Dedrickson, the combination of hot and dusty conditions, and the nutritional stress being experienced by those calves, can open the door to bovine respiratory disease (BRD).

In an interview with Brownfield at the recent Cattle Industry Summer Conference in Denver, Dedrickson discussed BRD treatment and control options available to cattlemen, including Merial’s new antimicrobial product called ZACTRAN.
