Glyphosate-resistant kochia a growing concern in the West

Herbicide-resistant weeds are popping up all across the U.S.  One that is of big concern to farmers in the High Plains—especially western Kansas, western Nebraska and eastern Colorado—is kochia.

Phil Stahlman, who is a weed scientist with Kansas State University Research and Extension, has been researching glyphosate-resistant kochia for the past several years.  He spoke at a recent herbicide-resistant weed management field day near David City, Nebraska, and then sat down for an interview with Brownfield’s Ken Anderson.
