The University of Wisconsin College of Agricultural and Life Sciences has named Nancy Esser to be the superintendent of the Marshfield Ag Research Station. She has been serving as assistant superintendent at the station for the last year under Mike Bertram who is now superintendent at the Arlington station.
Over a 20-year career in ag research, safety and production, Esser has managed research projects at the U.W. Madison Dairy Science Department and spent six years as an agricultural safety specialist with the National Farm Medicine Center at Marshfield Clinic.
Esser becomes the first woman to serve as superintendent at a U.W. ag research station. Currently celebrating its 100th year, the 1,250-acre Marshfield operation is home to the U.W.’s replacement heifer program and the Environmentally Integrated Dairy Management Research Unit.
