Silage management has always been important, but with escalating feed prices managing forages has become even more important.
Dr. Keith Bolsen is a retired Kansas State University forage management specialist turned consultant. Bolsen says silage shrink loss is higher than most people suspect—in many cases, exceeding 20 percent. But he says it is possible to bring silage shrink below 10 percent.
Bolsen shares some tips and techniques that successful beef producers have used to achieve single digit shrink loss.
