#FarmsMatter

As the consumers curiosity in how their food makes it from the farm to their fork piques, several grassroots efforts are being made to help answer those questions.  #FarmsMatter is a new campaign to engage FFA students in the conversations about agriculture.  Megan Kuhn, communications director with the Indiana Soybean Alliance and the Indiana Corn Marketing Council says it’s important for the youth to participate.

“They have such a social network beyond just their friends and family – it’s a great way for them to be active in this community,” she says.  “FFA is all about sharing that message, practicing leadership skills, and empowering the youth.”  Kuhn says #FarmsMatter is a great way to tie all those attributes together and help spread the word.”

She tells Brownfield Indiana FFA state convention was the perfect place to kick off the campaign.  “We’re planning on continuing it as we move through the school year,” she says.  “But then we also have plans to moving it into our Hoosier Horsepower Colts program to not only incorporate FFA students – but the Colts fans as well to continue to fuel the conversation.”

Kuhn says she the ultimate goal of #FarmsMatter is to create and fuel a conversation.  You can learn more by searching #FarmsMatter via Twitter.
