People in training to become diesel mechanics may soon be required to study biodiesel. The National Biodiesel Board’s curriculum has received Automotive Service Excellence accreditation this week from the National Automotive Technician Education Foundation.
The curriculum has been used at Iowa community colleges since 2009. Nearly 75% of those Iowa students rated their knowledge of biodiesel after training as very high. Before taking the course, only one-third of students said they were “very knowledgeable” about biodiesel.
The National Biodiesel Board says they hope other states will adopt the curriculum which it says will be critical in increasing public acceptance of biodiesel, still considered a relatively new fuel.
