U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced this week that the process to close 125 Farm Service Agency offices around the country, including three in Indiana would proceed.
Indiana FSA State Executive Director Julia Wickard says closure dates for offices in Lake, Morgan and St. Joseph counties will be announced once required notifications have been provided to producers, FSA employees, and office landlords.
Farmers affected by the office closings will have an opportunity to choose the most convenient FSA office for them to conduct business with the agency. Employees in those offices being closed will also be given an opportunity to continue their work with the Farm Service Agency.
“Customer service for our producers along with employment security for our staff remains the top priorities during this consolidation process”, said Wickard.
