There will be a little less in the milk check this month. The May base milk price for Class II production is $15.19 per cwt, down $1.01 from April and $5.44 below May of last year. The Class III base for May milk is $15.23, down 49 cents from April and $1.29 below a year ago. If the futures hold true, this should be the lowest Class III price of the year. The Class IV base for May is $13.55 down $1.25 from April and $6.74 below May of last year. Component prices for May milk per pound are: butterfat $1.4462; protein $2.7344; nonfat solids $0.9774; other solids $0.35.
